Position: Lat. 40 42 15; Long. 92 30 50, alt. above sea level 839'. Distance and direction from nearest P. O., 5 1/2 miles SW.  (237° true) from Bloomfleld. Magnetic variation, 6° 31' E., January 1, 1927 (annual decrease 3').
Description: Size (see sketch); acres, 22H; shape, L, Surface, sod; gradient, none; drainage, poor. Runways, two, N/S 330' x 1,342', E./W. 330' x 1,957'.  Marking of runways, circle marker; green lights in boundary.
Obstructions:  (See sketch.)  Marking of obstructions, boundary lights on S. and W. sides and ends of runways indicate proximity of wire fence.
Marking and identification:  Standard 50' white circle, directional arrow at beacon. Other marking, "Route 3, beacon 74," on roof of power house. Brooklyn

(O-C, site 18).—A 24-inch beacon, operating at six revolutions per minute, beam elevated 1 ¾ ° above horizon, has been installed 3 ¼ miles west of Brooklyn, latitude 41° 42', longitude 92° 31'. This beacon is mounted on top of a 51-foot skeleton steel airway tower, with a concrete directional arrow, and is located at an altitude of 860 feet. Arrow bearings: Forward 81° azimuth true, 74° azimuth magnetic; backward 268° azimuth true, 261° azimuth magnetic.

Burlington

Colfax

(O-C, site 14).—A standard "A type" installation, 24- inch electric airway beacon rotating six revolutions per minute is operating at this site, beam elevated approximately 1 ¾ ° above horizon, altitude 920 feet above sea level. This beacon is mounted on top of a 51-foot skeleton steel airway tower with standard concrete directional arrow, located at the northeast corner of the city of Colfax, latitude 41° 41', longitude 93° 14'. Arrow directions: Forward 80° azimuth true, 72° azimuth magnetic; backward 260° azimuth true, 252° azimuth magnetic.

Dewitt

Dewitt Airport, commercial, rating. . One mile E. of city between Lincoln Highway on S. and railroad. Attitude, 710 feet. L shaped. 48 acres, sod, level, natural drainage; two landing strips, 2,500 feet N./S. and 2,000 feet E./W., both 500 feet wide. Directional arrow marked "28 O-C." Beacon and boundary lights. Grand Mound

T shape, 44 acres, sod, slightly rolling, natural drainage; two landing strips, 1,934 by 495 feet E./W. and 2,345 by 450 feet N./S. Directional arrow marked "27 O-C." Grinnell

Department of Commerce intermediate field, site 17, Omaha-Chicago Airway. Two miles SE. Altitude, 1,000 feet. L shape, 47 acres, sod, level, natural drainage; two landing strips, 1,489 feet N./S. and 2,000 feet E./W., both 500 feet wide. Directional arrow marked "17 O-C." Beacon, boundary, obstruction, and approach lights. Beacon, 24-inch rotating, with green course lights flashing characteristic "7" (—. .) No servicing facilities. Teletype. 

(O-C, site 17).—An intermediate landing field has been established 2 miles southeast of Grinnell, latitude 41° 43', longitude 92° 44', at which a standard 24-inch beacon is operating six revolutions per minute; beam elevated 1 ¾ ° above horizon, altitude 1,000 feet above sea level. This beacon is mounted on top of a 62- foot skeleton steel tower. "O-C 17" is painted in solid black on the yellow roof of the power shed, located in the northwest corner of the north and south runway. This L-shaped field has a triangular-shaped tract at the junction of the runways. Surface is of sod. Field is marked with a 50-foot circle with two projections at intersection of runways. Metal cones painted yellow mounted on all boundary light standards and illuminated wind cone on beacon tower. Obstructions are marked with red lights, best approaches with green lights, and boundary lights have also been installed. Airway weather instruments and telephone available. Arrow directions: Forward 83° 30' azimuth true, 75° 30' azimuth magnetic; backward 265° azimuth true, 257° azimuth magnetic.

Kellogg

(O-C site 16).—A 24-inch electric beacon, operating at six revolutions per minute, beam elevated approximately 1 ¾ ° above horizon, is located 1 ½ miles east of Kellogg, latitude 41° 43', longitude 92° 53'. Arrow direction: Forward 84° azimuth true, 76° azimuth magnetic; backward 266° azimuth true, 258° azimuth magnetic.

Libertyville

Description: Size, long leg, 1,895' x 412'; short leg, 1,310' x 412'; acres, 27.3 ;. shape, L. Surface, sod; gradient, level; drainage, poor. Landing strips, two sod; N. and S. 412' x 1,895'; E. and W. 412" x 1,316'. Marking thereof, circle marker; green light in N. boundary only.
Obstructions: 50' windmill S. end long landing strip; trees on W. side; 20' electric pole along road; 4' fence around field. Marking (day), none. Lighting, red lights on S. end and on windmill.

Marengo

(O-C, site 20).—An intermediate landing field has been established 1 mile southwest of Marengo, latitude 41° 47', longitude 92° 5', at which a standard 24-inch beacon is operating six revolutions per minute, elevated 1 ¾ ° above the horizon. This beacon, which is located at 755 feet above sea level, is mounted on top of an 87-foot skeleton steel airway tower. "O-C 20" is painted in solid black on yellow roof of power shed located in the northeast corner of the north-south runway. This L-shaped field has a triangular tract at the junction of runways. Surface is of sod. Field is marked by illuminated wind cone mounted on beacon tower, red lights for obstructions, boundary lights and green approach lights. Arrow bearings (note 2-point arrow installed): Forward to Cedar Rapids Airport 64° azimuth true, 57° 30' azimuth magnetic; to Iowa City Airport 109° azimuth true, 102° 30' magnetic. Backward to site O-C 17, Grinnell, Iowa, 263° 30' azimuth true, 257° azimuth magnetic.

New Albin

(C-TC Site Nos. 5 and 4).—A new intermediate landing field is now in operation one-half mile southwest of New Albin on the Chicago-Twin Cities " cut-off" on a direct line between Rockford, Ill., and Rochester, Minn. (lat. 43° 28' N.; long. 91° 20' W.; alt. 1,000 feet). A 24-inch 2,000,000 candlepower beacon showing 6 rotations per minute has been installed on a hill 1,000 feet northwest of the field and 500 feet above it. No course lights are in operation at this site. Boundary and obstruction lights outline the field with green lights indicating a center line of the principal runway. Day marking consists of a standard 100-foot circle with two projections installed in the center of the field. Concrete directional arrow and power shed have been installed in the northeast corner of the field. The bearings of the directional arrow are: Forward—298° azimuth magnetic; backward—123° azimuth magnetic.

Department of Commerce intermediate field, site X3, Chicago-Twin Cities Airway (Rochester-Rockford cut-off). One-half mile SW. of New Albin. Altitude, 1.000 feet. Rectangular, 22M- acres, 2,390 by 597 feet, sod, level, natural drainage: entire field available. Directional arrow marked "X3 C-TC." Pole line along railroad to W. and NW beacon tower on hill 1,000 feet to NW. Beacon, boundary, approach, and obstruction lights. Beacon, 24-Inch rotating, clear. No servicing facilities. 

Newton

(O-C, site 15).—An intermediate landing field has been established at this point, operating a 24- inch beacon rotating six revolutions per minute; beam elevated 1%° above horizon, altitude 940 feet. This beacon is mounted on top of a 75-foot skeleton steel airway tower. O-C 15 in solid black is painted on the yellow roof of power shed, located in the southwest corner of the north-south runway. Field is L-shaped, with triangular tract at junction of runways; sod surface. Markings consist of red lights on obstructions and 50-foot circle with two projections at intersection of runways. An illuminated wind cone is mounted on the beacon tower, and the field is lighted with boundary and green approach lights. Metal cones painted yellow mounted on all boundary-light standards. This facility is located adjacent to the east limits of the city of Newton, one-quarter mile north of United States Highway No. 32, latitude 41° 43', longitude 93° 2'. Arrow directions: Forward 86° azimuth true, 77° azimuth magnetic; backward 260° azimuth true, 251° azimuth magnetic.

Oxford

(O-C, site 22).—A 24-inch beacon, operating at six revolutions per minute, beam elevate 1 ¾ ° above the horizon, has been installed one-fourth mile south of Oxford, latitude 41° 38', longitude 91° 47'. This beacon is mounted on top of a 51-foot skeleton steel airway tower, with a concrete directional arrow, and is located at an altitude of 850 feet. Arrow bearings: Forward 113° azimuth true, 106° azimuth magnetic; backward 286° azimuth true, 279° azimuth magnetic.

Sidney

Department of Commerce Intermediate field, site 13, Kansas City-Omaha Airway. Three miles SW. Altitude, 1,050 feet. T shape, 42.7 acres, sod, level, natural drainage; two landing strips, 1,800 feet N./S., 1,900 feet E./W., entire field available. Directional arrow marked "13 KC-O." Tipton

Department of Commerce intermediate field, site 25, Omaha-Chicago Airway. Two and one-half miles NW. Altitude, 660 feet. Victor

(O-C, site 19).—A 24-inch beacon, operating at six revolutions per minute, beam elevated 1 ¾ ° above the horizon, has been installed 2 miles north of Victor, latitude 41° 42', longitude 92° 18'. This beacon is mounted on top of a 51-foot skeleton steel airway tower, with a concrete directional arrow, and is located at an altitude of 910 feet. Arrow bearings: Forward 81° azimuth true, 74° azimuth magnetic; backward 262° azimuth true, 255° azimuth magnetic.

West Branch

(O-C Site No. 24).—The beacon formerly located near Centerdale is now in operation 3 miles north and 1 mile west of West Branch. The elevation of the main beam of this 24-inch beacon is 1 ¾ ° above the horizon. The candlepower is 2,500,000 and it shows 6 rotations per minute. Approximate position: Latitude 41" 42'; longitude 91° 22'. Bearings of directional arrows: Forward 60° azimuth true; backward 240° azimuth true.
