The Churchrock Arrow was a little bit tricky to get to, as it is located on a small bluff just adjacent to the eastbound lanes of
I-40. We pulled onto the right shoulder and then parked just behind the metal guard rail. The parking area here is very short. When leaving you have to back-up onto the right shoulder and then accelerate back into the freeway lanes. Another thing I had to consider is that the Highway Patrol would stop and question my wife about being parked there while I was up at the arrow, but this did not happen.
The arrow is complete and in fairly good condition, with several cracks and overgrown weeds.
The arrow is 57 feet in length.
The pilot would approach the tail of the arrow on a compass heading of 98° (E), and then exit the arrow on a compass heading of 98° (E).
